Ag Biology- Course Description
Agricultural Biology is a two semester, laboratory science course designed for college bound students with a career interest in agriculture. The course will emphasize understanding the principle ideas and concepts through lecture, discussion, and student presentations of the following topics: molecular and cellular aspects of life, chemical and structural basis of life, cellular metabolism and energetic, genetics and inheritance, DNA structure and gene technology, evolution and natural selection, ecological relationships between plants, animals and humans, physiology and function of body systems, and immune system response. The course is centered around an extensive laboratory component (including dissection of organisms) in order to connect the big picture of biology to agricultural applications. Written and oral reporting and FFA activity assignments will be given to enhance citizenship and leadership qualities.
